Author & Contributor Role Term Definitions
When depositing works using our self-deposit application, you'll need to provide a role term for each author or contributor. Definitions for each of the role terms are listed below. Some of these terms are available for either individual person entries or organizations, but not both.
You will need to choose one role for each author/contributor that best describes their contribution to the work you are depositing.
Person who advised on a non-thesis student work.
Person or organization who authored a written document.
Collective meeting centered on a profession, discipline, or topic.
Composer of sheet music or a performed musical piece.
Person or organization contributing to the resource but not a primary author.
Person or organization who has ownership of rights.
Person who created the resource (use when no more specific role applies).
Person or organization responsible for collecting or compiling data.
Person or organization providing data.
Institution granting a degree based on a thesis, dissertation, or other capstone project.
Organization that disseminates a resource.
Person editing a document or anthology.
Symposium, seminar, talk, or other gathering in person or online.
Person or organization responsible for organizing a conference or other event.
Organization funding research or another activity.
Institution hosting an event or other activity.
Person answering questions in an interview.
Person asking questions in an interview.
Organization responsible for issuing a report or other document.
Person participating in the performance of a creative work.
Person who captures a still image.
Lead member of a dissertation or thesis committee.
Lead researcher directing a project.
Laboratory or other collective working on shared research.
Person conducting research related to the resource.
Person who writes code or otherwise creates software.
Person performing a speech, presentation, or other spoken word activity.
Organization providing sponsorship support for an event, research, or some other activity.
Member of a dissertation or thesis committee who is not the primary advisor.
