ArXiv policy change impacts Computer Science authors

The preprint service arXiv recently updated its policies regarding the publishing of review (or survey) and position papers in the computer science category. These types of materials "must now be accepted at a journal or a conference and complete successful peer review” before they can be considered for submission to arXiv.

If you have been publishing review or position papers in Computer Science at arXiv as a way to get a DOI for your work or as preprint materials prior to journal or conference submission, know that as a Stanford author you can publish preprints and get a DOI immediately for these works by depositing them to the Stanford Digital Repository. 

Using the SDR couldn't be easier. When you first visit the SDR website above, you’ll need to submit a brief form to let us know who you are and that you'd like to deposit a preprint. We’ll then get you set up quickly to submit your work and get your DOI. The SDR can also be used for Open Access versions of previously published articles, data and software associated with publications, products of funded grant projects, and other scholarly work associated with Stanford.
