Versioning in SDR just got better

Now depositors have some options to choose from!

Depositors using the SDR self-deposit app can now create multiple publicly-accessible versions of their deposits to provide more transparency into the research process. The new functionality also makes it easier for users to understand the version history of a deposit in SDR, access those previous versions, and cite them appropriately.  We're thrilled to offer this new functionality, because it provides even better support for reproducibility, open science, and open scholarship at Stanford.Depositors can choose one of two paths when modifying their works:

  • Update an existing version: the PURL page shows the updates on the most recent version of the work. A new public version will not be created.
  • Create a new version: both the new version and the old (previous) version are available to the public. A new version is required whenever changes are made to the files associated with a deposit.
